Back to our wonderful life and routine in Felixstowe…
Well here we are at the end of September and I feel that I have only blinked a couple of times since the Children have gone back to school.
My family and I had a lovely break in Spain the last 2 weeks of the school holiday, and although I love being away you cannot beat coming back to the comfort and familiarity of your own home and bed.
I feel very honoured and lucky to be living in such a lovely seaside resort of Felixstowe. The weather has been absolutely fantastic since we have been back and we have has many a late afternoon at the new park near Martello Tower, and of course coffee and cake at the fabulous South Kiosk.
I always love looking about to see what may have changed which new houses are up for sale and those that have sold since being away. We now have a new crossing petrol by traffic lights in Walton to accommodate the children coming from the New Felixstowe Academy building.
The Ordnance Hotel is now in demolition ready to make way for the new Premier Inn, a first for Felixstowe. A slight bit of nostalgia is kicking in as this was once one of my haunts when I left school. I have had many a great night in here and one of my best friends met her husband and my mum had her wedding reception there. Towards the end I think it had changed but I remember many a New Year’s eve in here and it was so busy people were sitting and standing on the window sills. Such great memories.
We are now coming into that time of year where the boots and jumpers come out although not quite just yet due to our Indian Summer, however you can tell that we are just not used to this when you walk up the high street, people have their jumpers on because they feel it is the time of year even though it is still 20 degrees.
Just on Saturday I was walking through the Felixstowe shopping area of Hamilton Road and had two ladies in front of me who I believe were not from Felixstowe and they made the comment “ isn’t it lovely to be able to see the sea from the Shopping precinct”. I looked down the town and thought yes it certainly is and something that I have taken for granted my whole life.
It is now great to be back home in Felixstowe and the routine of my Girls back at school, one at Trimley St Mary and the other enjoying her new found life at Felixstowe Academy .
Until the next time, Yours Debbie.
